How We Ship Lobster
Lobsters are carefully packed in boxes with foam inside, and dry ice is used to keep them fresh during shipping. We ship live Maine lobster through FedEx to all 50 states of the USA, except Alaska and Hawaii, due to certain restrictions. Orders placed before 2:00 PM EST are shipped the same day for next-day delivery, while orders after that time ship the following day for delivery the day after. We can deliver to almost any address in the USA, with some restrictions on Saturday delivery. Most packages enjoy FREE SHIPPING and are shipped by air. Shipments to businesses require a signature upon delivery.
Handling & Thawing
You can either let them thaw in the fridge overnight or speed up the process by submerging them in cold water, changing the water every 30 minutes until they’re thawed. Remember to handle them carefully, as they can be quite active. When it’s time to cook, you can boil or steam them. Boiling in salted water for around 8-10 minutes per pound is a popular method.

How do I store these lobster
To ensure your live Maine lobsters stay fresh, keep them in a cool, damp spot. Put them in a container with a moist cloth or seaweed to help them stay hydrated. Remember to store them in the fridge, but don’t seal them in airtight containers; they need airflow. Keep them alive until you’re ready to cook and savor them for the tastiest lobster feast!
Should I keep them on ice?
You can store them with ice packs or in the fridge, just make sure they stay as chilly as you can handle, but avoid freezing them. This will help keep them fresh and ready for when you’re all set to cook them up!

It’s a really simple, but clean, little site that makes you stop for a second to wonder if you should put your card in and trust that your dinner plans won’t be ruined. But I think I’ve made at least 7 Chix lobster purchases so far that shipped cross country and they’ve always arrived on time. My order was received without a hitch. It included steamers, oysters and a “chick”-sized lobster. The ice packs and thick Styrofoam box resulted in everything arriving fresh and ready for consumption. And, as expected, the low temperatures put the lobster in hibernation. When it warmed to room temperature, it was ready to scamper away!
Being an Old Salt from the shores of Narragansett Bay, eating steamers dredged in butter and making a batch of seafood stew including the picked lobster, brought back fond memories.
